Georgian Wine Tasting

White Wine Tasting sessions

Georgian wine

Georgia is said to be the birthplace of winemaking. Before the tasting, we did some research about Georgia which is one of the oldest wine regions in the world with its fertile soils&valleys perfect for wine cultivation. There are about 540 grape varieties!

With more than 8000 years of wine making history, winery are still using ancestral methods.
Wine is fermented in “Kvevri” which are clay jars(pretty much like amphorae without handles as you can see on Baias’s wine label) buried in the ground or set into the floors of wine cellars.

The Baia’s Wine on tasting is a white dry wine made of the Tsolikauri(70%) and Tsitska(30%) grape varieties cultivated in Western Georgia, with high acidity and low sugar.

Baia, a dry white wine from Vades

Dry white wines lack the residual sugar that can be found in sweeter white wines and there are really great to cook with, very versatile wines.

For our tasting, we paired this Vades wine with an easy recipe.
Sausage stuffed peppers are fun to prepare with no extra cooking skills required 😉
So let’s cook!
