Big Black Tiger Shrimps

Ingredients

  • 10-12 rice paper wrappers
  • 200 grams of cooked Black Tiger shrimps, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup rice vermicelli, cooked according to package instructions
  • 1 small carrot, julienned
  • 2-3 spring onions, thinly sliced
  • Fresh coriander leaves
  • Soy sauce, or sweet chili sauce for dipping

Instructions:

Big Black Tiger Shrimps Easy Peel
  1. Prepare all the ingredients by cooking the rice vermicelli. No peeling needed and no shrimps deveining because Glüx did it all already! Our shrimps are an “easy peel” product!
Then do the julienning with 2-3 carrots.
  2. Fill a shallow dish or bowl with warm water.
  3. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the warm water for a few seconds until it becomes pliable. Remove from the water and place it on a clean, damp kitchen towel.
Wrapping was première for us and our first attempt at rice paper wrapping turned out surprisingly well!
  4. On the lower third of the rice paper wrapper, place a small handful of cooked rice vermicelli.
  5. Add a few pieces of Black Tiger shrimp on top of the vermicelli.
  6. Sprinkle some julienned carrot, sliced spring onions, and fresh coriander leaves on top of the shrimps.
  7. Gently fold the sides of the rice paper wrapper over the filling, then roll tightly from the bottom to the top, forming a spring roll.
  8. Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients.
  9. Serve the Black Tiger Shrimp Spring Rolls with Chili or soy sauce for dipping.

Note: You can also add additional ingredients like lettuce leaves, mint leaves, or sliced cucumber for extra freshness and crunch. Enjoy these delicious spring rolls as an appetizer or light healthy meal!

Facts about Shrimps

did you know?

Black Tiger Shrimps (Penaeus monodon), also known as giant tiger prawns, are named for the distinct black stripes they develop as they mature. Interestingly, these stripes tend to fade or disappear completely as the shrimps grow larger.

Despite their name, Black Tiger Shrimps can actually come in a variety of colors, including gray, blue, and even a vibrant orange hue. These shrimps are highly valued for their large size, succulent meat, and distinctive flavor, making them a popular choice in various culinary dishes and seafood delicacies around the world.
